Who We Are

Marva Benjamin, Founder- The daughter of Guyanese parents, Marva’s upbringing was enriched by Caribbean culture. Now, Marva returns to her roots with the opening of Caribbean Yoga Retreats.

Marva’s passion for fitness was born and nurtured by her father, who was a Caribbean Track & Field star and her first Track coach. Equally influential in her life was her mother, who shaped her entrepreneurial spirit, customer centric philosophy, and passion for people.

Marva’s holistic approach to wellness through the mind/body/spirit connection that is facilitated through yoga, is the driving force behind Caribbean Yoga Retreats. After graduating from the University of Washington, she came to yoga over 10 years ago, after completing an intensive certified yoga program in Seattle, Washington.

Students enjoy her energetic and nurturing instruction, and are especially inspired by the demonstration of her own immensely powerful and graceful practice. Marva teaches adults, pre-natal classes, young children, and teenagers.
